OCM – Common Experiences

oil cleansing method

  • Many notice results after the first cleanse, while others start to see results after up to 3 weeks.
  • You may feel tiny sand like particles on the surface of your skin during the cleansing process. The particles are the hardened sebum (oil) and dirt that had been trapped in your pores. With continued use, you will feel less and less particles as your pores clear out.
  • You pores may appear enlarged temporarily while you are actually doing OCM. This is due to heat from the steaming and/or the increased circulation from massaging of the skin. This should subside shortly after you have finished the cleansing process.
  • Most find their pores appear much smaller.
  • Oily skin types find that their skin becomes less oily overall – closer to normal skin type.
  • Dry skin types find their skin is becomes much softer, less dry and flakey throughout the day.
  • Some find that their skin tone becomes less blotchy.
  • Many find their skin feels much softer and smoother.
  • Many find their complexion appears brighter and more vibrant.
  • Some experience what is known as “purging” of the skin. This appears as minor blemishes, blackheads, and or whiteheads for a day to two weeks. This is thought to be a result of oils/dirt underneath the skin being expelled to the surface.
  • NOTE: “Purging” is not an allergic reaction such as swelling, prolonged redness, itchiness, rash, or big and painful cystic acne. If any of these symptoms appear stop using the oil(s) or product. You are allergic to a particular ingredient(s). Try other oils.
  • Infrequently, some find that OCM just does not work for them. It can be from frequent allergy issues with numerous oils or frequent breakouts. In any case, they have to return to commercial water based cleansers or medical treatments.
